How Sariawan Changes Life

Assalamu'alaikum

Isn't Herbee the cutest thing EVER?! | credit

Hallo, Lieblings!

Let's start this post by congratulating my fellow Muslims who are celebrating Ramadan!  May Allah SWT filled our hearts with a bundle of joy and harmony, shower us with loads of peace and prosperity, and grant us relief in this time of uncertainty during this blessed month. 💖

Let's start with the fact that something peculiar happened to me a week before Ramadan started.

I hope you are not clickbait-ed with what I wrote as the title of this post because dude, it really happened. For those who aren't used to the word 'sariawan', it literally means ulcer. You know, that teeny-tiny wound inside your mouth. Oftentimes develop when you accidentally bite your tongue, when you lack essential vitamins, or even when you are simply stressed out and lacking sleep.

Judging by its size, this teeny tiny little wound is really small... but don't get me started talking about the pain. Man, it is painful. Very. Especially when it caught inflammation and turned white. I wonder what is even more painful, being heartbroken or getting 3 ulcers all at once. But when you think about the consequences of both wound types they do actually have similar consequences; uncomfortable experience when you are eating (and lack of appetite), drinking and even talking. They just... hurt differently. 😀

(Ok, that one's so cringy, I laughed)

Quick info for those who might feel alienated hearing the word 'Ramadan', here's a brief explanation to y'all.

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar when Muslims all around the world observe it as a month of fasting, reflection, and prayer. It commemorates the first revelation of the Prophet Muhammad SAW (a.k.a. The Qur'an). Ramadan lasts for 29 to 30 days depending on the year and the holiday of Eid al Fitr marks the end of the month. During the whole month of Ramadan, Muslims (that are capable of practicing) are obliged to fast on a daily basis from sunrise to sunsetSawm, The Arabic word for fasting means “to refrain” not only from food, drink, but also nasty actions, thoughts, and words.

So, I hope you guys had a little bit of an idea that as a Muslim I'm not allowed to even take a bite of a cookie and even drink a sip of dalgona coffee during the day in Ramadan. That's why folks I was actually planning to eat so many desserts as possible and enjoy the last minute blessing of my homemade brownies to pile up fat under my skin before Ramadan so that I wouldn't die in hunger.

DISCLAIMER: Pardon the exaggeration haha. And no, you wouldn't die by intermittent fasting! In contrary to what people may think, fasting is actually good for our health. (read more: Live Science | Health Benefits of Fasting, Backed by Science | Evidence-Based Health Benefits of Intermittent Fasting)

Now going back to the ulcer thing. As you could easily guess, I got an ulcer. A big and white one. On the upper right side of my lip. When I closed my mouth, this little nasty thing hits the literal checkpoint. My canine tooth or the fang (re: gigi taring). Of all the areas in my mouth, I often question it for choosing this certain spot.

credit

That is the least pain I want to feel in this world, really.
And a week before Ramadan? Really, ulcer?
I was devastated, I couldn't even eat my favorite spaghetti carbonara peacefully or even drink my beloved homemade boba 😭

But in every oddity, there is always marvel and things get a little bit more interesting from here. As I couldn't really open my mouth all the time (how do you expect me to?!), to avoid the 'curse of the fang' I have no other option than closing it. But flexing the muscle at the side of my right mouth upward, and you know it.

I curved a smile.

Yes, you got it right, folks. I was forced by this nasty thing to smile for literally 24/7. Before this incident, I wasn't actually the full-of-smile type of a person. I'd rather say my frown is like my crown, it's there all along (yes you heard it HAHA). I couldn't recall the time when my sister ever compliments me for smiling as I was really a grumpy ball back home.

credit

I mean, why should I smile even when nobody's watching. People will think I'm mad or might even think that my head hit the wall or something. It sounds cringy and kind of an exaggeration, however, this ulcer is actually one of the turning points in my life. How?

I read articles about the benefits of smiling (and I think you ever did too, even only once) but never really benefit from it because I don't really like to smile. Except for photos. And if I'm really happy. And faking smiles, oooops. In a nutshell, I wasn't actually used to smile on a daily basis without any reason. 🙅

But. This. Nasty. Ulcer. Changed. Everything!!!

Being forced to smile every day, every second, was really a hell of a ride. The first few days were actually ugly because my cheek muscles are TIRED of flexing. I even need to massage it a few times a day. You might find this funny, but wait till you experience this 'torture' yourself.

However, as days go by, I kind of realize something. Every time I looked at myself in the mirror every morning, a reflection of the pretty-smiling me stared back. Though I wasn't certainly happy with anything, smiling brightens my mood and starts the day more energized. Every time I'm trying to solve some ridiculously hard Sudoku game -- while smiling ofc -- makes me feel a little lighter. Even when I'm about to sleep, I smile, and those nights may be the nights when my head actually feels relaxed.

I think that week was the happiest week of my life not because I won a BTS concert tickets giveaway and rode the Ferrari, but simply because I smiled a lot. And maybe, you don't even need those things to be happy and make others happy 😊 Days after the whole ulcer thing had actually affected my life in many ways. I even still smiling more on a daily basis up until today. This grumpy ball is turning into a sunbeam!

I was actually asking a friend of mine, Hasna, how to get rid of my chubby chin. And God had bizarre ways of actually giving me solutions plus the bonuses. My mind was actually blown up even more after I experienced such dramatic tragedy -- which turns out to be a blessing in disguise -- and re-reading the benefit of smiling.

#1 Smile combats depression

Researchers have found that preventing people from frowning and having them demonstrate happy feelings can actually lessen symptoms of depression.

#2 Grin and Bear it!

This expression actually means to smile even though you are not happy. Researchers found that when people's faces were manipulated into smiles, they actually showed impressive movements in their moods and well-being, such as lower rates of stress. 😉

#3 Reduce blood pressure

Smiling helps you to relax, consequently, your blood pressure will naturally decrease. Even just five minutes of smiling off and on while thinking of a pleasant memory can eliminate stress and help your blood pressure drop. When recovering from a stressful situation, study participants who were smiling had lower heart rates than those with a neutral facial expression.

#4 Smiling strengthens you immune system

One study found that hospitalized children who were visited by story-tellers and puppeteers that had made them smile and laugh had higher white blood cell counts than those children who weren't visited. It also revives your body's energy levels! 💪

#5 Smiling releases Endorphins

Endorphins are natural mood-boosters chemicals that could help you manage stress and anxiety. They are essentially a sugar rush for your brain, but without any terrifying after-effects like grumpiness and lethargy. Surprisingly, smiling can trigger the release of this hormone equivalent to when you're working out, resulting in what is known as a runner's high. Plus, Endorphins act as natural painkillers, so if you're experiencing any discomfort, a quick smile can help you relax and feel better.

#6 Smiling makes you look younger

Studies have shown that on average when you smile, you can actually look about 3 years younger. Smiling can naturally lift your face and can fend off any frown lines you may get.

Well, well, well. To be honest, I don't know whether to believe in every single point, but I think no harm is actually being made if you smile more. Except for certain circumstances, like when the boss is in full anger, or when you are being scolded by your parents, or even when your friend is telling you a teary story. You would actually risk a higher level of stress. Please, just, don't smile 😂

After all, I'm a survivor of this unidentified blessing, covering up as a tragedy. And please, though smile releases Endorphins and increases immunity and bla bla bla, you still have to move that ass and keep moving! Sweat it out!

In this time of uncertainty, I understand that we are too, forced to adapt to the new normal and might feel exhausted from doing the same routine, in the same place all over again. Especially for my fellow Muslims. But when you are tired, remember just by smiling you are already donating good deeds into your bank account of The Hereafter. Narrated by At-Tirmidhi, Abdullaah ibn Haarith said, "I never came across a person as much as Prophet Muhammad PBUH. He PBUH regarded smiling to a brother as an act of charity."

I really hope that you guys could actually take some takeaways and wished that this weird experience of mine could benefit you in many unique ways possible. Now, take a moment to smile! Take a moment to reminisce how delicious the food your mother made for iftar or even at your father's lame jokes. Let's spread this contagious act of positivity rather than mourning over things we couldn't control.

Cheers on the great jobs and accomplishments you have done during the quarantine up until today! Might not be the most productive phase of life, but great job, for the odds you've already fought. We are human anyway, flaws and imperfections are always part of our game. Oh and in case anyone hasn't told you today, I love your smile. It suits you. 😊

And lastly, whO doesn't lOve alpaca in sunglasses? lol.

Nrimo Ing Pandum

Assalamu'alaikum

Hallo, Lieblings!

The sun shines warmly today and I hope you too, will wholeheartedly make today even more productive than yesterday. Before we start, let me welcome you with a brief prologue to the first-ever rant that I'm going to utter. First, let me ask you some questions.

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed just walking through your life? Precisely... walking through your life that is surrounded by flattery and shiny people everywhere you go? Are you an overthinker? Do you, at this very minute, still don't have any clue where to go after this life-phase ends? If your answers are mostly a yes, then you might have a clue where this conversation will be going.

In this technology epoche, everything was made easier than decades ago. Life within the house during the pandemic won't make it impossible to do anything you want. Say it for the sake of seeking knowledge, communication, a wide variety of online courses, entertainment. It is a waaay different situation than when the human race is faced by The Black Death plague in 1346.

Meanwhile, at this present moment, you can sit comfortably or tuck your body under the warm, fluffy sheet of blanket yet still being educated by one of Ivy League's professors. With access to startups like Skillacademy, Skillshare, MasterclassNetflix, Audible, and an endlessly long list of wonderful platforms -- everyone could be whoever they want and inspired by anyone they chose.

Every day I exposed myself to look at some inspiring people and listened to wholehearted, educating podcasts made by exhilarating beings with unquestionable backgrounds. Say it entrepreneur conglomerates, educators, motivators, writers, musicians, film directors, minimalists, et cetera. Hoping that I'd somehow be inspired to be like them, or feeling how is it like to be in their shoes.

But the ambition, the dreams, the targets bizarrely pressured me. So much.
I think I overdose being so inspired, blood started squirting out my arteries.

credit

The downside of my action is, I started to compare myself. Yes, I compared my very short CV and life experiences to their one meter long extraordinary ones. Forgetting the fact that before these amazing people put that CEO label or 'founder' under their LinkedIn profile, they too have been through some horrid phases of life.

Their stories of struggling from zero to hero and goes back to another zero setbacks before they hit their pinnacle of success lit a fire beneath me. HOWever, I was overwhelmed with the ambition, the fire started to burn my brain out. Ironically, at some point, I started looking down at myself. It's then understandable that rather than gaining confidence, my self-esteem started to fade away day by day.  And whoa that is definitely not a good news dude. 😰

I felt like I was kayaking on a stream with harsh current and suddenly I was facing the edge of Niagara Falls. Most people will probably look at this peculiar phenomenon of mine as something really dramatic, but sorry not sorry y'all. I was born this way.  HAHAwhat no.

(Believe me, if you are reading these last 3 paragraphs skeptically with that smirk at the edge of your mouth, man I was indeed am laughing at myself too. And is it just me but does everything looks so dramatic when being left unresolved??)

This is why I have a very weird love-hate relationship with long holidays.

You got too much time to think and being left by your own thoughts. From the simplest of thought could lead to wild, irrelevant, and toxic thoughts. A piece of bad news for overthinkers out there. Realized I can take it no more, I decided to take a day break from social media. Contemplate, reflect, and would rather busy myself reading books.

Then, one particular chapter in a book I currently read slaps me. As if the book knows accurately what I'm currently facing. As if God knows when to pat my back (okay, I believe He really knows. Here, let me give you fist bumps, God 👊). The title of the chapter was Berdamai dengan Takdir, to make peace with destiny. One of the subchapters is actually a Javanese proverb I frequently heard back in my hometown. And as you can probably guess, it has the same title as this post.

Nrimo ing pandum.

Nrimo means to accept. Pandum means something that God had given us. Together, this proverb literally means we have to accept every sustenance God had given us. In one blink of an eye, we may get this proverb as an attitude of being passive and literally accept whatsoever is being served on the table.

In reality, in a deeper level of understanding, this proverb means the acceptance of receiving God's sustenance after days of hard work while tirelessly improving ourselves. This teaches us to sincerely try our best to do the work while keeping in mind to be grateful for whatever result is waiting at the end.

Whoa. To be honest, at that point it all seems clicked. In the end, it is gratitude that makes us live a serene life. As a self-proclaimed overthinker, I was blinded by my own ambition and ego that they rather crush than nourish my soul. My ears were deafened by the explosion of future anxieties that may never ever happen. I forgot to live in the moment.

There are reasons why the Latin phrase, carpe diem (according to Merriam-Webster, means the enjoyment of the pleasures of the moment without concern for the future) is being widely used as an Instagram bio. Life is actually a long pathway of flowers, hills, and serene bird chirps. But sometimes we weirdly exhaust ourselves by overly aiming at the end of the road rather than enjoying breathtaking views that surround us

Indeed I frequently lose sight of my 'place' in the bigger picture, as it is such a piece of cake to feel small in this whole gigantic universe. But at the end of the drama, we need to constantly remind ourselves that, indeed, we are enough. 😊

Every time you feel like you are lost, take a break for a moment just to look back at your journey you've been through. We all have to soon realize that it's completely fine for not having everything figured out yet. It's alright for not reaching your goals right now. Take it slowly, step by step. Isn't the most important thing is to keep going?

This post is indeed a reflection of what I've been through at the moment. We may come from different life backgrounds and ethnic roots. But one thing I know for sure is that we are all here for a purpose that is indeed to come. We should all constantly grow and nourish our soul with the right fertilizers and dare to decline the toxins that are being served in good manners.

Whoever you are, a complete stranger or some people that may have met me in the analog life. Wherever you are, whichever GMT + do you use. Whatever things you did or are doing at the present moment and even in the future. Whatever age you are now. I really hope that you, too, believe that you have that one particular thing that only you can share with the world. I hope, despite the hardships you are facing lately, you took a brave step into your venture for an exceptional life. I hope, you chose to become your own catalyst and create a chain reaction of wondrous life stories as you take the hardest step  the first.

I am so small I can barely be seen.
How can this great love be inside me?
Look at your eyes, they are small.
But they see enormous things.

--On The Turn, Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi

If you are wondering, I was inspired by a book by Dwi Suwiknyo, Lillah Tanpa Lelah. Tbh I hesitated to write this post because I was anxious HAHA -- lol, but that is another thing. I hope my untamed will of fighting my odds be ever in your favor. By the time you finish reading, I wish you are able to grasp some ++ takeaways from this peculiar post, I suppose. Thank you for reading, may health and happiness always be presence in your everyday life. 😇

Love and light,
Sintya💝

101 Series: Studienkolleg in General (Pt. 1)

Assalamu'alaikum

Alexander Platz, when in Berlin.
Hallo, Lieblings!

Despite the current pandemic challenge we are facing until this very day, I'm so grateful that here in Germany, we officially celebrate the first days of summer! I hope the rays of sunshine made your mood a little bit better and your smiles as wide as ever. Summer is definitely a favorable season for a cold-weakling like me.

The incoming summer means the semester is about to start, thus the next admission phase for Wintersemester is approaching. Dangg, I myself too have to prepare from the daydream till the worst ever scenario. How fast time flies has left me flabbergasted...

Anyway, talking about admission, today I'd like to talk about the Studienkolleg admission program. The first challenge we have to face before going to the Uni. I'm excited though, as this topic is very specified with our nationalities... my fellow Indonesian readers, today is your lucky day. To make the explanation even more understandable, I'm going to write it in our mother language. At first, I'm insecure about writing in Indo though because it's been a loooong time. But anyway, my desire to share this holy grail to y'all instantly killed my insecurity 😊 Let's grow together!

Read more: how to apply Studienkolleg, step by step!

Mungkin kalian udah baca post aku sebelumnya yang "Are you sure about studying abroad?" dan ternyata hati kalian mantap buat melanjutkan langkah ke Jerman. A6 a6. Sebelum aku mulai, aku pengen berbagi sedikit tentang pengalamanku mendaftar secara singkat, terutama buat kalian yang belum baca The First Footsteps Series.

#2 Kenapa kita perlu Studienkolleg?

Learning by doing.

Kalau kalian kepo sama perjalanan hidupku waktu Studkol, kalian bisa baca di post ku sebelumnya di The First Footsteps: Studienkolleg, The Early Battlefield.

Umumnya, Studkol ditempuh selama 2 semester.

More infohttps://collegedunia.com/germany/article/application-deadlines-for-german-universities-winter-and-summer-2019 (deadline aplikasi Uni di Jerman)

  • WW Kursuntuk jurusan bisnis, ekonomi, akuntansi, ilmu sosial.
  • GD Kurs, untuk jurusan desain dan seni. (sudah jarang)
  • SW Kurs, untuk jurusan sosial.
Jujur waktu daftar Studkol dulu, pilihanku masih abu-abu. Jadi, aku pilih area studi yang aku minati, yaitu biologi dan kimia, makanya aku ambil M-Kurs. Kalau semisal minatku fisika, aku bakalan ambil T Kurs.

More info

Cara cari informasi tentang jurusan

#9 Gimana cara daftar Studienkolleg?

  • Ijazah SMA (fotokopi asli yg dilegalisir + translate bhs Jerman)
  • Sertifikat bahasa (minimal B1, kalau punya B2 lebih baik)
  • Curiculum Vitae / CV
  • Fotokopi paspor

Jangan sampai pengalaman yang pernah aku ceritakan di The First Footsteps: Aufnahmeprüfung (ANP) Dramas + Important Travel Tips terulang lagi.

#11 Habis Studienkolleg, terus ngapain?

Mungkin kelihatan ribet, tapi kalau dikerjakan satu-satu, InshaAllah ngga bakalan kerasa kok. Semangat terus!

Love and light,

"Are you sure about studying abroad?"

Assalamu'alaikum

When in Leipzig, early March.

Hallo, Lieblings!

What I found really typical of having a long 'holiday', thanks to quarantine, is that I lost count of days really easily. It's almost April y'all! Time flies really fast, just like the fact that I've made the choice to study abroad around 3 years ago. I've been through many crazy decisions and fought countless odds. It felt surreal that I'm still standing on my feet on this very day.

Call me idealistic (or rather flexing?! sorry not sorry) but I found it really important to scale your own self-worthiness by the experiences and how wonderful your mind and thought had grown to be who you are today. Now note that down, that is an opinion alright.

Recounting to my high school, pre-abroad life, there were countless people who had conspired and asked me the same question. Behold, the FAQ kids.

Are you sure about studying abroad?
Are you sure about leaving your family so early?
Are you sure you are strong enough to handle those challenges?
Are you sure you are ready to live so far away all alone?

I often question myself how could some people claimed themselves knowing myself better... when I don't even know who am I yet. I believe that every great people starts with letting themselves to learn as a beginner. Every. Single. Person. Starts with level one. What is so wrong about wanting to achieve something? Great stories may start with a single daydream.

I am no more than a broke kid that has very little experience in this field of expertise, but I know that before starting a new game, a player should know themselves better. Which ammunition do you have? Do you still have enough booster in your inventory? Which items you need to buy in the shop?

I know this may not be the most helpful but through this flow of thinking and plotting one by one of the things we need to do -- slowly but surely. Here are some tips based on my past that may help answer that "Where should I start?" question.  The numbers aren't according to the level of importance though. What works for me may or may not work for you, please don't eat 'em all up easily. Pick the ones that suit you best. 💪

#1 Be conscious of your 'why'

I think it's really crucial to know your reasons before you start everything, knowing this is indeed a very BIG decision to make. I tend to see this as the phase of 'knowing myself better'. To root yourself down you may ask yourself these sample questions:
    • What is the biggest reason for you to embark on this journey?
    • Are you financially, psychologically, and physically ready? (I understand that money is a sensitive topic to talk about especially, but it is crucial to understand if your family has urgent priorities or vital plans to do in the future)
    • Do you have any other responsibilities to do in your homeland?
    • Will this journey makes you grow to be a better you? Why?
    • What do you really want to learn and achieve?
    • Are you ready to face every challenge that is coming? How is it?
    • Will you be okay if you fail? What would you do next?

#2 Choose your target!

There are some people like me that wanted to go studying abroad because they wanted to. It doesn't really have a certain country to go as long as it is, you know, abroad. Ridiculous, I know. But at that point, I was really thirsty for looking into different windows from other parts of the world.

I think there are two types of thinking flow regarding studying abroad.
    • First, because of the country. Some countries provide specific programs or unique characteristics that any other countries don't. For example, Germany is known for its unquestionable work ethic, wonderful renaissance architecture, and amazing landscapes. Plus, if you got a Schengen Visa, you can go to all EU Countries with no additional work to do!
    • Second, because of the course of study. Some countries may provide better courses or even courses that others don't. For example, Biomedicine, Nanotech, and Bioinformatic aren't really common in Indonesia. That's why some of my friends eagerly continue their studies in Germany to learn what they think to suit them best.

#3 Educate yourself, do research!

Rank the countries you've chosen according to your specific standards. It may include the estimated life cost, the prospect of work, the language, the skill that you need and every detail. Write down which particular city in the country that interests you the most and why. Write the pros and cons!

Ask the pros. Brave yourself to ask people that have been actually staying in your targetted country. Stalk influencers, watch vlogs, read articles, ask communities like Union of Indonesia Students (Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia/PPI) that spread widely across the globe, actually READ the requirements thoroughly. I'm sure the Embassy doesn't put a bunch of Infos there just to dECoraTE their website. Don't come running to me like you couldn't get certain Information, because believe me, those Infos are really just as far as pressing the enter button. 😱

I'm actually excited yet scared tbh in this time of exploration haha. The more I know, the better. Yet that not only includes the ups, but also the downs. The more I know what kind of challenge I have to face though...

Looking at my life be like Kaonashi standing under the shower of sadness.

You may want to see how many hours does the country allows its foreign students to work. I really admire many of my friends that are solo financially supporting themselves. Tbh, I don't really recommend you to work during your studies if you have the privilege not to and can easily be distracted. However, every individual is different and you understand your capabilities better than anyone else. If part-timing doesn't really affect your study flow and priorities, then just go for it! It's a great experience anyway.

#4 Pray

There are a lot of things to do to feel content about what you are doing, one of them is through praying. In Islam, I was taught that the first thing to do when you feel like standing in front of a T-junction is to ask for God's guidance. If you have the same faith as I do, I recommend you to pray Istikhara (seeking goodness). It is a prayer to seek blessing and guidance from Allah  for a decision.

I guess every belief has its own unique way of seeking guidance from The Almighty. Meditate and even yoga may help you clear up the mess in your head. Do whatever suits your cup of tea! 😇

#5 Strengthen yourself

Hard times are coming and they gonna hit you like endless tsunamis. But, you are your biggest supporter and influencer. Realize that opinions are just opinions. They are just subjective thoughts made by the brain according to different perspectives.

Get your heart ready to receive both dis- and approval. Try to put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself why do they say so. Remind yourself to not be upset easily and prepare for the worst. You are the sailor of your ship called life anyway, the storms and the speck of sunlight can't ever change that fact.

#6 Getting to the fam

Ask your homies and close relatives (before going to the peak of the family tree, lol). For me personally, I tend to see their opinions as a 'practice test'. Their so-called interviews actually made my skin thicker and ready to answer whatever questions my parents will ask. Listen to their advice, know when to rethink your decision and when to keep going.

Know that the perfect time will never come. You just need to start being brave and do this last but very important thing: ask the parents. Time is ticking! Tell them what you really want to do, your 'why', your research journey, that you've made an in-depth talk to yourself, that why you believe you can. Prove to them that you are deadly serious and ready for this and you had enough plan ABCDE if one doesn't work.

#7 (Trying our best to) be wise with every answer

The keyword here is 'trying our best' y'all note 'em down. I wouldn't blame you leaving that long conversation feeling heartbroken and betrayed... But on the other side, I will honestly never understand how does it feels like letting a child out of the house (especially you are the only child) until I eventually become a parent myself.
    • If their answer is yes, get yourself ready and be grateful. One to-do list is now checked but there are still many things to do and prepare. Never lose that grip of 'why' and faith of yours. Get ready for a whole dose of upcoming challenges (and dramas)!
    • If their answer is no, it's alright and still, be grateful for that. 'There are 1000 ways to go to Rome' and this door may not be yours this time. But what if it is your door tomorrow? Next week? Next year? Next couple of years? If our 'why' is crystal clear, let's put a comma in between rather than a period. Try to understand the 'why' of your parents saying so just like you wanted them to listen to yours and put yourself in their shoes. Maybe this 'extra challenge' is going to make your skin thicker and your heart stronger than it will ever be.

#8 Still, inhale knowledge

Whatsoever the answers you've gotten, I hope they won't affect your thirst on absorbing as much knowledge as possible. Because kids, don't you realize the thought of wanting to study abroad is a sign that you've grown yourself? That you wanted to learn many more things? Just like what Confucius said, It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don't stop.

Learn whatsoever language you wanted to, whatever major you are interested in wherever and whenever. I believe that studying in this era would be made easy through the technologies we have. Online classes in various fields are widespread on the net too. Keep moving, make your own flow!

Pheww, es ist schon lange her -- it's a long time ago. But here is a life update from me! I'm still in my gap semester, waiting for the next Wintersemester to come which is on around August/September.  I'm trying to make my life seem productive during the quarantine by awakening my imagination HAHA. No, not hallucinating my love-life with imaginary North Korean Oppa that saves me from a paragliding accident ofc (Crash Landing On You fans raise your hands!!)

As you guys can see, I'm falling head over heels with Studio Ghibli's movies. I've watched several movies from the studio back in middle school and never had the time to really sink in it again until recently. They are honestly thought-provoking masterpieces that could warm my heart like no one ever could 😭 Every time I'm watching one, it feels like I'm being thrown back into my unproblematic childhood life. The music, the animation, the powerful character developments, the details are swirling my emotions in such harmony. What a piece of art. I would really recommend you to watch it, starting from two of my personal favorites; Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke

I'm grateful for Hayao Miyazaki and his hardworking team for always successfully making me drowned in my own tears watching this scene from Spirited Away 💩

"Even amidst the hatred and carnage, life is still worth living. It is possible for wonderful encounters and beautiful things to exist." (Hayao Miyazaki)

Anyway, despite the Covid 19 situation, wherever you are, I hope you are doing great. May your day be filled with warm rays of sunshine. Stay healthy, stay clean, stay at home! 🙋

Love and light,
Sintya
